At Lochee Bowling club we take a very proactive approach to advancing youth development at the club. We recognise that without continuing to encourage youth development this will hamper the future growth of our sport locally and at a national level. The club has invested in and received grants for equipment to allow us to actively pursue our goal, which is to break the misconception that bowls is only for the older generation and to promote bowls as an appealing, welcoming and open safe environment to encourage children to see the benefits of this sport. Bowls can help to develop concentration, balance and communication skills and bring out the true personality of individuals in a competitive and fun way.

This is always under review by the coaches of the club, initially we look to develop the children’s skill and understanding of the sport by internal sessions at the club. Only once we feel they have developed enough that we may look to set up other competitive matches with other local clubs.
Yes, we have a limited set of junior bowls for use for the children. If the child looks to purchase their own set, this can be done through the club who can assist in the purchase at cost price.
We also use equipment that has been provided through grants to make the learning of the sport fun and enjoyable.
The club will not look to exclude any child because of a disability and the green and club house have facilities to cater for wheelchair access. However, we would encourage the parent or guardian to discuss this before coming along to see how we can best support the child.
The club and staff have no concerns with an adult staying and watching the sessions, just be aware you may also be asked to help out and try out😊
