Having safely negotiated 4 matches in the District 5 Over 55 Rinks National Championship Qualifiers, our rink of Morris Coates, John Wade, Ronnie Duell and Brian Smith, found themselves at finals day on Thursday 18^th June at Balgay BC. Our opponents in the final were Broughty BC who were always going to be stiff opposition. The weather conditions were reasonable to start with but deteriorated about halfway through and rained continuously until the end of the match. Lochee were 3-2 down after 3 ends but got in front after 4 ends and never looked back, running out 15-10 winners. So it’s now onto Ayr as District 5 Winners for the National Championships in early August. Following Jim Milne’s recent consecutive visits to Ayr in the Over 55 Singles and Open Singles, it is only the 3rd time since 1997 that Lochee BC has had representation at the National Finals. Well done to the lads and the best of luck in Ayr.
